Tribute Double Barreled
Our Tribute Double Barreled Bourbon begins with a commitment to quality. Unlike most bourbons, we use rare, flavorful, varietal-stated grains—including once-sacred, previously near-extinct Cherokee White Corn—grown by small family farms, not commodity grains from large commercial farming operations. Our whiskey maker, Ari Sussman’s alma mater, Michigan State, helped reclaim these sustainably raised heirloom grains intended for making whiskey — not bread.
Once the mash is distilled, it’s aged a minimum of four years in new charred American oak. Then, we take the extra step to re-barrel the whiskey for an additional 3-6 months in another new American oak barrel, maximizing flavor extraction—after all, 60% of bourbon’s flavor comes from the barrel. While double-barreling adds significant expense, it imparts rich vanilla and caramel notes, creating a uniquely refined taste and deep color. Finally, we bottle at 86-proof for a smooth, approachable yet characterful profile. Tribute honors the land, the soil, and the revival of these special grains.
